The Turkish province of Erzurum is in the race for the Olympic Winter Games of 2026, according to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) this week. The National Olympic Committee of Turkey has submitted a letter of intent from the Eastern Turkish city. The deadline for registration was last Saturday. In addition to Erzurum, six other competitors such as Calgary, Japan’s Sapporo, Stockholm, Sion in Switzerland, the region of Cortina d’Ampezzo and Graz are also hoping for the opportunity.
