Pasta still comes from Italy to Germany. According to the Federal Statistical Office, around 524,000 tons of pasta were imported in 2018. A good 70% of them from Italy, but Turkey is catching up as a country of production worldwide. Turkey exports spaghetti to 154 countries. Pasta exports are expected to rise to more than 1 million tonnes this year.
Turkey is very good at wheat flour, pasta and bulgur and is a leader in exports in these fields. In spaghetti production, Turkey ranks third worldwide, and Turkey comes in second in terms of export.
