THE MUSEUM IN ALANYA


The Museum in Alanya was opened in 1967. It has various exhibition rooms on Anatolian Civilizations, Shipping and Ships, Heracles and Coins and an activity room for children. Outside in the large garden you have the opportunity to rest between green trees and peacocks. The exhibits in the museum cover a period of 12,000 years and go till the 19th century. The exhibits are presented both temporally and thematically. Among them is an epigraph in the Phoenician language, a letter from the Roman emperor unearthed in the ancient city of Syedra, a ship’s tool winged horse (Pegasus), an epigraph, a bronze soldier’s diploma, and the highlight of the museum, the statue of Heracles, found at the excavations Seljuk era faience found in Alanya Castle and Roman era Ostotecs depicting burial rituals are among the exhibits.
