Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen AG have agreed on coproduction for a 1-ton commercial vehicle as part of a cooperation plan that has been running since 2018. In a statement from Ford, it was announced that the joint project will see the next-generation diesel, hybrid and all-electric versions of the Ford Transit Custom family at the Ford Otosan plant in Kocaeli and for the most part are produced in an export-oriented manner. Investments of 2 billion euros: the capacity for the production of commercial vehicles is to be increased by 1.4 billion euros. The remaining 600 million euros are to be raised for a previously announced electric battery factory. The capacity for the production of electric batteries is to be increased to 130 thousand units.
