EBRD revises growth forecast for Türkiye upwards

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) expects Türkiye to experience stronger economic growth this year than previously expected. The EBRD raised its forecast to 3.5 percent from 2.5 percent in May, according to its published Regional Economic Prospects Report. The bank forecasts growth of 3 percent for 2024.

The EBRD justified the increase with the strong growth of the Turkish economy in the first half of the year, boosted by stimulus measures ahead of the June elections. EBRD regional chief economist Rafik Selim told the AA news agency that the Turkish government’s new economic measures had led to an influx of foreign capital, indicating a return of foreign investors and helping to restore the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
