Entry formalities with your own car

When crossing the border to Turkey, make sure your passport is stamped with the Turkish entry stamp and a note about the vehicle you are entering. In principle, vehicles can be imported temporarily from 180 days to 12 months. In any case, state a generous period of time and ask when you must take out the vehicle at the latest. According to customs, the date of the last export day is also noted. If you have not yet carried out the vehicle by that time, you may face high customs fines (often higher than the value of the vehicle) and criminal proceedings. For pensioners who have the relevant evidence in Turkish, this period is extended by 2 years, after which the vehicle must be re-exported to Turkey.

If you are leaving Turkey temporarily without your car and are storing it, you must contact the responsible customs office (Gümrük) at your holiday destination and complete the “EK 7” form.
