At the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, the Sugar Festival (Turkish: Ramazan Bayrami) is celebrated. It is an important festival day for Muslims and lasts three days. It is a family celebration where the family is visited, there is a rich meal (especially sweets) and the children are given presents. The Sugar Festival will take place this year from April 10th to April 12th, 2024.Banks, authorities and schools remain closed during this festival. The supermarkets and possibly some of the restaurants are closed on the first day or only open to a limited extent and from the second day onwards they usually return to their regular opening hours. The weekly markets/bazaars do not take place on these 3 days.
