At the opening of the World Team Walking Championships, it was announced that the senior women’s and men’s 20 km, the U20 women’s and men’s 10 km, will be held in Turkey for the first time, and the marathon Mixed relay walking competition will take place as well. It was also stated that this competition would award the first Olympic quotas for the 20 km distance. The first 22 teams to compete in the Marathon Mixed Relay Walking, in which 25 teams take part in the Olympic Games, will be determined after the championship in Antalya.
